The Butterfly Project

Garden Art

What’s with all the decorated butterflies about?

We’ve chosen the butterfly as the symbol of Botanical Bazaar 2022 – which turns out is quite appropriate!  Butterflies represent spiritual rebirth, transformation, change, hope and life! ?

We invited local artists, schools and anyone who wanted to be involved to create a work of art (from a template provided) … decorate it, paint it, upcycle it … which have been used to promote the festival and will be on display throughout Country Paradise Parklands at this years’ event!

Each entry will be ‘judged‘ by the everyone attending of the event – with great prizes to be won!

There are 2 categories for entries – Student (Under 15) and Open.

You will notice a QR code on every official entry – simply scan this barcode to lodge your vote.

Even better – you could OWN your favourite piece – each butterfly is up for sale via a Silent Auction!!

The Silent Auction will close at 3pm on Sunday.  Soon after, the winners of the People’s Choice awards for Butterfly Art will be announced!

Funds raised from the auction will go toward purchasing a ‘People Mover’ for the Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens.

The ‘butterfly collection’ has been displayed around various parks on the Gold Coast leading up to our event – as well as featuring at our media launch!

A huge thanks to the awesome bunch of blokes from the Nerang Men’s Shed who have volunteered their time and skills to create these butterfly templates.
